Mitchan Sohonten Hatchobori みっちゃん総本店 八丁堀本店

Mitchan Sohonten Hatchobori / みっちゃん総本店 八丁堀本店

Mitchan Sohonten Hatchobori is a legendary okonomiyaki restaurant in Hiroshima and Japan. They use the classic layered recipe with cabbage on the bottom, then pork belly, and then shrimp, squid, and finally the pancake. Ise Mitsuo (known as Mitchan) doesn't use Worcester sauce. Instead, they created their own sauce, which perfectly matches the taste. This small Yatai (small shop) is not only a great choice to enjoy some of the best Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, but it also presents the history of ... the city. The shop started offering cheap food to takeout after the Hiroshima bombing and the war. The shop is the classic old-fashion shop, but it is highly recommended. It is one of the best in a city of 1700 okonomiyaki restaurants. NOTE: This restaurant is located in Hatchobori on the 1st floor of a building named チュリス八丁堀, which can be read in English as “the Turis Hatchobori building.” Since the exact translation is not clear, we have kept this part of the address in Japanese.
