Taihou is one of those tiny restaurants which mastered the art of Tonkatsu, attracting people from all Tokyo, including some TV presenters, celebrities and Japanese personalities. The shop is located near Meguro station and you can delight yourself with a soft and tender tonkatsu that can be cut with your chopsticks. The quality of the ingredients is very important for the shop master and that's why the bring their vegetables from Miura in Kanagawa and the pork cutlets are also selected from the best farmers. The bread-crump at Taiho is homemade and the final tonkotsu delivered to your plate is very crispy are a truly unique dish. For the sauce the choices are soy, Worcestershire and rock salt. Their signature dishes are Rosu Katsu (more fat than "Hire Katsu") and Hire Katsu (lean cutlet), both are excellent. Be ready to queue outside at noon for around 30 minutes but if you go later on, the line is short or nonexistent. Great Tonkatsu in Meguro for our JGP members!
