Daikoku is a restaurant specialized in Kayaku rice. It is a rice boiled in broth soup, seasoned with dried seaweed (depending on the styles, it can have meat, fish, etc.). The result is a smooth, slightly salty rice that goes perfectly with side dishes. They have a basic menu of rice, fish, miso soup and two side dishes to choose from for 1000 yen. You may also add dishes to your liking. Fishes like sea bream and salmon can be grilled or boiled. It is highly recommended to order tamago onsen (se ... mi-boiled egg) that goes perfectly with salty rice. Founded in 1905, the restaurant has been well known in Osaka for generations. It is located in a small alley north of Nanba. There is a pleasant aroma as you enter the place and a quiet atmosphere of wood aged by years.
