Uokyu Main Store in Ningyocho, is the original store of this family owned business that specializes in fish marinated in sake lees (lees or the left over fermented rice paste after filtering sake). The business began as a fish wholesaler in 1914. At that time, the fish arrived in boats through the nearby canal, which acted as a highway for the transport of goods.
