Okamoto (Asakusa Sakaba Okamoto) it has been operating in the heart Hoppy Street in Asakuza for 3 generations. Is a very popular Izakaya (tavern style Japanese gastro pub founded in 1959). Is a very casual street Izakaya that will not disappoint you if you really want to melt into the Japanese tavern style. Their cooking is traditional with special care to "nikomi" (stew) which actually is one of the recommendations. They have some course menus as well and they don't close after lunch. Good for groups as well since there are around 100 seats. NOTE: Japan Gourmet Pass recommends this place for the atmosphere you can get on those type of venues. Is not a restaurant, is more like a very casual local Bar where you can eat at the same time. If you visit it with this concept then is a good choice. If you strictly look for a restaurant, then is better to look at other venues in our website. We decided to include the shop because the "ambience" normally is great and festive, while being mixed with locals and just few minutes walk from Asakusa main temple.
