With a history of more than 80 years, Isen Honten is a classic for Tonkatsu in Ueno area. There are the creators of the Tonkatsu Sandwich, which become a popular sandwich normally sold at train station all around Japan. The deep-fried Tonkatsu is really soft, tasty and crispy, actually you can even cut with your chopsticks. Their signature dishes are the Toku Rosu Katsu and the mentioned Katsu Sandwich. The decoration is very traditional and your "travel" on time to the Showa era. If you are around Ueno park or the museums around including the busy street of Ameyoko, make sure to stop for a wonderful Tonkatsu in one of the oldest shops in Tokyo for this dish.
