Asakusa Sakaba Okamoto 浅草酒場 岡本 ホッピー通り店

Asakusa Sakaba Okamoto / 浅草酒場 岡本 ホッピー通り店

Okamoto (Asakusa Sakaba Okamoto) has been operating in the heart of Hoppy Street in Asakuza for three generations. It is a very popular izakaya (tavern-style Japanese gastro pub), which was founded in 1959. It is a very casual street izakaya that will not disappoint if you really want to experience a Japanese-style tavern. Their cooking is traditional, and they take special care to prepare “nikomi” (stew), which actually is one of the recommendations. They have some course menus as well, and ... they don’t close after lunch. It’s great for groups as well, since there are around 100 seats. NOTE: Japan Gourmet Pass recommends this place for the atmosphere. It is not a restaurant, but it is more like a very casual local bar where you can eat at the same time. If you visit with this in mind, then it is a good choice. If you are strictly looking for a restaurant, then it is better to look at other venues on our website. We decided to include the shop because the “ambiance” is wonderful and festive. Locals dine here, and it’s just a few-minute walk from Asakusa’s main temple.
