Unagi Tomoei is a Kaiseki-style (traditional Japanese) restaurant specializing in Unagi (eel) located on the outskirts of Odawara. With a zen style decoration, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and all the waitresses wear kimono. The speaciality dish on offer is the authentic Aotan blue eel. Although the eels are bred via aquaculture, they are in perfect conditions, combined with local and seasonal vegetables ensuring a very high-quality final product. The eel is roasted to perfection without ... bones and served in traditional boxes accompanied with a delicious sweetlike rice. You can order the dark eel cooked with a special sauce or the eel with a lighter flavour and whiter tone. The average price is high, but it's really worth it. Tip: Go with enough time, at noon it is usually very crowded and queues start very early. It's already full when they open, with the people waiting outside and they don't accept reservations.
